The Little Penguin in New Zealand is locally known as the Little Blue Penguin (Koror\u0101).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PENGUIN LIFE CYCLE<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The koror\u0101, (Little Blue Penguin) found here at Takiharuru-Pilots Beach breeds on the New Zealand and Australian mainland and islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Koror\u0101 are the world\u2019s smallest penguin at 25-45cm in height<\/li><li>They weigh around one kilo on average.<\/li><li>The average age of koror\u0101 in our colony is seven years, but the oldest recorded was 25 years.<\/li><li>There are around 600,000 koror\u0101 in the world today, and the numbers living in New Zealand are in decline.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Takiharuru-Pilots Beach is one of the main koror\u0101 breeding areas in mainland Otago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor) is known in M\u0101ori as koror\u0101 and is a T\u0101oka (Treasured) Species for Kai Tahu and a protected native species.
