{"id":15472,"date":"2022-12-26T13:41:38","date_gmt":"2022-12-26T01:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/boydnature.nz\/?post_type=phort_post&#038;p=15472"},"modified":"2023-01-11T16:12:46","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T04:12:46","slug":"weona-westermere-path","status":"publish","type":"phort_post","link":"https:\/\/boydnature.nz\/index.php\/portfolio\/weona-westermere-path\/","title":{"rendered":"WEONA-WESTERMERE PATH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the path<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Westmere Coastal walkway runs along the edge of the Western Springs Creek estuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll hear birdsong as you pass through mangroves, p\u014dhutukawa, n\u012bkau, kowhai and cabbage trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path has several access points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Westmere Park Avenue (via steps)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weona Place<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lemington Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Westmere Crescent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is plenty of on-street parking in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can extend the walk to Old Mill Road, through Jaggers Bush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s an easy walk that provides great views to the wider Waitemata Harbour, Meola Reef Reserve (Te Tokoroa) and the Pt Chevalier Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The walkway is a mix of gravel, concrete and dirt and gently rolls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access between Westmere Park and the Westmere Park Avenue connection is at low tide only. As it is an inter-tidal zone it can remain wet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The southern portion has a boardwalk which runs beside the Western Springs Creek through the mangroves. This section is nice to walk at high tide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no cycling and dogs must be under control on a leash at all times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About the path Westmere Coastal walkway runs along the edge of the Western Springs Creek estuary.
