Roaring Meg Power Station Waterfall is roughly a 40-minutes’ drive away from Queenstown. The road surface is always sealed.
From Queenstown travel east (towards Cromwell) on the SH-6 for 45km. As soon as you reach the power station (on your right) – watch for a car park. You find an official parking a few meters past the power station. It’s a turnover (on your right) from the main highway. There are no facilities there (no toilets).
The waterfall is seen from the car park. Though it’s an artificial waterfall created by the water stream from the power station, it looks very natural and is classified as a waterfall.
The view of the Kawarau River is unbeatable from this parking. It’s a nice spot to stop, relax and enjoy on the way to/from Queenstown. Really worth it.
