This is a 20 minute loop track at the start of the St James Walkway. It leads through an alpine wetland, with views of Gloriana Peak and the Spenser Mountains. Picnic tables make it a great spot to stop while on a longer drive.
This at the top of the Lewis Pass and is a lovely place to stop for a rest and enjoy the tarn and scenery.

The Alpine walk is well made and easy to follow along what wooded path as it can be wet underfoot.
The path leads in to lovely beech tree forest which gleams in the sunlight on a fine day, so quiet.
Many types of native plants surround the lake.

IF you take the St james Walkway path for a short distance you will walk into this beautiful bush area with beach trees and moss covered ground.
The path is easy to follow on the St James track going along the leftside of the tarn before heading down towards the river. Lush native bush everywhere you look.
