KAPITI LIGHTHOUSE WALK

P1030088

Welcome to 2026 everyone, hope you had a happy new year. Recently I had the chage to take an overnight trip to the Otago area included Moeraki and Oamaru. One trip I wanted to tick off my list is the Kapiti Lighthouse walk around Moeraki Village and peninsula. This walk only took an hour return not including looking at all the wonderful wildlife, along the way you will see Yellow eyed Penguins, New Zealand Fur Seals, and Sea gulls. The walk is easy and accessible for all families and visitors to the area. I recommend that anyone visiting is respectful of the wildlife as they can be found out in the open. There are also amazing views of the coastline all the way down towards Shag Point, and then Dunedin. The road in is mostly sealed but two section along Lighthouse Road are unsealed and bumpy but at the end you will find the carpark out in front of the wonderful lighthouse, entry is free. Hope you visit too and enjoy it like I did.
