Today was the day that I finally got to do the Gibraltar Rock Walk beside Omahu Bush Reserve, this was a walk I have wanted to do for a while since I had already done Omahu Bush Walk last year. Today wasn’t the best day for it but nethertheless I got out and drove up Dyers Pass Road and around the summit road to reach the Gibraltar Rock carpark. From there I got ready, there is a sign to Omahu Bush at the beginning of the path which is named Pendergasts Track. The first part lead me down into the bush following the steps and path through the bush before coming out into the open and then I walked up towards the double gates, then upto one last gate where it is well sign posted to Gibraltar Rock. Here you follow the fence line up the hill about halfway before turning left and following the last section to reach the base of GIbraltar Rock, there not much open space but you can find a rock to sit down and look out over the vistas of Canterbury in all directions on a clear or cloudy day.
