Talbot Forest Walk – Geraldine

PA090147

Yesterday I traveled south to Geraldine to do the Talbot Forest Walk which is 3.8kms through the Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve. It took me just under 2hours from Christchurch, on a lovely warm spring day. The track I did was made up of four tracks that cross over and connect with each other throughout the reserves. This includes native bush and bird life, pine forest, and other areas where you can stop often to get amazing views across the South Canterbury countryside, on fine days. The tracks are well made but can muddy or slippery in some parts, and do include lots of tree roots through the bush sections, also some slight uphill parts, lots of shade through the pine forest areas, and crossing a few streets that go through the reserve itself. The whole track took me roughly 1hr 15m return to complete and there is lots of seating by the carpark to rest, eat and recover in the warm sunshine.
